The Feb. 16 deadline to nominate individuals for Progressive Railroading's Rising Stars program is fast approaching.

Now in its sixth year, the program recognizes up-and-coming leaders in North America's railroad industry. The magazine defines a Rising Star as someone under the age of 40 who is making a positive difference in his or her company, department or team.

These "Stars" also are viewed as up-and-comers by their peers, colleagues, supervisors, clients or associates.

Nominees must be younger than 40 years of age on Sept. 1, and currently work in North America's rail industry. Candidates must be willing to be interviewed by Progressive Railroading staff and supply a photo for publication.

To nominate a Rising Star, fill out the nomination survey and explain in detail how the nominee goes above and beyond to make a difference in railroading.

Candidates will be considered for recognition based on qualities such as contributions to the rail industry, career achievements, demonstrated leadership, education and/or training, and professional association activity or community involvement.

The Rising Stars of 2018 will be honored July 22 at a recognition dinner at the W Lakeshore Hotel in Chicago.
