The American Association of State Highway and Transportation (AASHTO) officials announced yesterday that Federal Highway Administration's (FHWA) Deputy Administrator Brandye Hendrickson is joining the organization as its new deputy director.

Hendrickson, who was appointed to FHWA's deputy administrator position in July 2017, also served as its acting administrator in 2017 and 2018.

Prior to joining the FHWA, Hendrickson was commissioner of the Indiana Department of Transportation and served on the AASHTO Board's executive committee.

Hendrickson "has a deep knowledge of the challenges facing surface transportation and that knowledge is going to directly benefit AASHTO and our member departments of transportation," said AASHTO Executive Director Jim Tymon in a press release.
