The Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) last week announced it selected Jacobs Project Management Co. and H.J. Russell & Company to manage construction spending in the first five years of the authority’s $3 billion More MARTA expansion project.

The Jacobs/Russell joint venture team will oversee the project management process, quality assurance and project resources including planning, monitoring and performance measurements, MARTA officials said in a press release.

The joint venture will launch an online dashboard through which the public can track More MARTA project progress.

More MARTA will be the largest expansion and service improvement project in MARTA’s history. The plan calls for upgrading and expanding light-rail service, as well as upgrading rail stations and building new multimodal transit centers.

The project will create more than 6,000 jobs and employ 15 subcontractors, 13 of which are minority-owned, women-owned or small business enterprises.
