Following the name change of a municipal road near the station, the MBTA selected Lansdowne as the station’s new name, MBTA officials said in a press release.
The name was chosen in accordance with MBTA’s station-naming policy. The MBTA picked April 8 to ensure the name change takes effect before the Boston Red Sox play their first home game of the season.
