The Surface Transportation Board (STB) has named member Martin Oberman the agency's vice chairman.
Oberman succeeds Patrick Fuchs, who continues to serve as a board member, STB officials said in a Jan. 6 press release.
A Chicago attorney, Oberman was sworn in as an STB member on Jan. 22, 2019. He has had an extensive career in the public and private sectors, including service as a Chicago alderman, a member of commuter railroad Metra's board and most recently a member of the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning's board.
Since 1975, Oberman has maintained a practice in Chicago as a trial and an appellate lawyer. The STB vice chairmanship rotates among members on an annual basis.
