The Hillsborough Area Regional Transit Authority's (HART) board yesterday named Jeffrey Seward interim chief executive officer.

He'll succeed Katharine Eagan Kelleman, who has been appointed CEO of the Port Authority of Allegheny County. Kelleman's last day at HART will be Jan. 5.

HART's board will continue to conduct a national search for a permanent replacement, agency officials said in a press release.

Seward currently serves as HART's chief financial officer. He's served the agency for six years. Before joining HART, Seward was chief financial planning officer for Sarasota County, Florida.

"[Seward's] 31 years of experience in local government, private-sector and military experience makes him the perfect fit, and his already strong knowledge of HART and plans for the future of the agency will help ensure a smooth transition period for the agency," said HART Chair Lesley Miller.

HART operates the 2.7-mile TECO Line heritage streetcar system in Tampa, Florida.
