Virginia Railway Express CEO Allen to step down

Virginia Railway Express (VRE) and Chief Executive Officer Doug Allen have "agreed to part ways," the agency's board announced last week.

Deputy CEO and Chief Operating Officer Rich Dalton will serve as acting CEO, while the board searches for a permanent successor, VRE officials said in a press release.

Dalton has been with VRE for 10 years and served as acting CEO during VRE's previous leadership transition in 2012. 

VRE provides commuter-rail service from the northern Virginia suburbs to the Washington, D.C., area.
